The Festive Season is about to go off with a 'bang'! The Sunshine Coast's heavens are going to explode with fireworks' extravaganzas - eleven dazzling firework displays are planned for Christmas and New Year's Eve festivities across the region.
For most of us, these firework displays provide a wonderful family outing - a time to revel in the kaleidoscope of colourful displays bursting across the night skies. But... there are certain family members…our four-pawed, furry ones, who can find the 'bangs' and noises quite distressing and can instantly turn into Houdini escape artists by running away from the family home to seek refuge elsewhere.
With this in mind, I thought that readers who have pets would like to be paw-warned (pre-warned) in order to ensure that our furry family members are safe and secure and calm during the Festive season. To assist all pet owners, here's a quick guide to the Fireworks' Schedule on the Sunshine Coast, with dates, locations and fireworks' starting times.

Tips to ensure our four-pawed family members are safe and still at home when we get back:
Keep pets indoors;
Close the curtains;
Turn the volume up on the TV to disguise the fireworks' noise;
Stay with them to keep them calm (if you can't be home, get yourself a pet-sitter or perhaps take your furry family member somewhere safe for the night);
Ensure your pets are micro-chipped and their registration details are up to date so that should they pull a Houdini on you, local vets can make a family reunion a certainty; and last but not least
Buy your furry friend a pair of ear muffs - the perfect accessory for the Festive Season
Paw-Warned is Fore-Armed, we can now take on the festive season, knowing that
every member of the family is going to have fun.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
