Kids dote on firetrucks and there will one in attendance which the kids can see in operation. There will also be lots of knowledge imparted on fire safety in the Australian bush.
The session is suitable for 6-12 year olds and will be held on Wednesday 22 January between 10 - 11am. The cost is $7. For bookings and enquiries phone (03) 5990 2200.
As well as the session there is plenty to do in the park which is a popular place with families. There is a fantastic bushland area for families called Woodland Picnic Area. It includes grassed areas for ball games, a bicycle track, free barbecue facilities and a kid's playground.
Another chance to find out about fire safety is through the MFB. Traditionally these sessions were always held at Eastern Hill Fire Station in East Melbourne. Kids would get to hold the powerful hose (with a bit of assistance), sit in the fire engine and learn about fire safety. You could tell the firefighters enjoyed the adoration from the youngsters as well.
These sessions have been cancelled at East Melbourne until further notice but are available at the following fire stations.

Demonstrations in the Eastern District alternate between Burwood and Ringwood fire stations on selected Fridays at 10am throughout the year. For dates and availability ring 9665 4525.
