Inspired by world events from 2016 onwards that saw political and global economic issues along with the refugee crisis, physical borders and the closing off human connections, Fire Monkey is a cross-cultural exploration and collaboration with dancers and musicians from Singapore and Australia.

"The dancers seek spiritual asylum out of the rebus of stolen memories, broken narratives and social discordance." Angela Liong - Art Fission

The universal myth of Fire not only ignites common stories among different cultures, it also enables movement creation through mapping of ancient memories with contemporary reflections.

Under the influence of the Fire element, The Fire Monkey is energetic, self-assured, expressive and truthful, a natural leader and innovator. He is also associated with chaos and disruption.

The energised dance performance is entwined yet scattered as it moves thoughout the space and envelops anything in its path. The music almost score like, with oriental percussion that sounds familiar yet foreign to us.

Don't miss this, as this performance enriches and takes us to another place.
