The annual Fire 'n' Friends Bonfire night is on again on Saturday 25th of October from 6pm. Held at Kerrie Hall (Kerrie) in the Macedon Ranges it's fabulous for all ages, and has something for everyone.

The event is gold coin entry, with profits going to the Hesket Kerrie CFA Brigade and the upkeep of the community hall. As the name of the event suggests, there will be two huge bonfires on the night. There will be some great local bands performing free live music. To get an idea of the vibe, check out The Wood o'boys, Jarrod Shaw, Brother Johnston and mainly Rhythm and Blues music.



The kids can run free in the paddocks, probably alternating between staring at the fire, and playing with glow sticks. Food is available and pretty cheap; hamburgers with the lot go for around $4 (and veggie options available). For the adults, BYO is fine, and local wine and beer are available to purchase as well.

I'm looking forward to a warming country get together after a day of exploring the Macedon Ranges. Head to the Mount for lunch, visit Camels Hump and Hanging Rock, and finish with a beer and BBQ at Kerrie.



Limited tent camping is available for $5 per tent. It's first come first served so contact the hall at [email protected] or call Jacky on 0417 722 575. Once you've booked you can pay on arrival.

The Hall is celebrating its 80th year, and the town (consisting of a small school, CFA and hall) has its arms open to you. The event is subject to the weather of course, but it has only been cancelled once in 15 years, so odds are it's going to be a beautiful evening.

Kerrie is only an hour from the Melbourne CBD via either the Calder Highway (take the Hanging Rock turn off) or the Tulla Freeway (ake Sunbury then Lancefield Rd to Bolinda or Romsey and turn left and head up the hill). Signs will be out once you get close, so you should find the hall and bonfires easily.
