McKenzies Auctioneers Spring Auction is almost here. It is a sale that genuinely has something for a wide range of tastes and budgets. In fact, it is a very savvy way to purchase some of life's little luxuries.
In the art section, there are works from Australian modernist artists such as Robert Dickerson, Ray Crooke, Pro Hart and Jasper Knight, as well as highly regarded Western Australian artists such as Allan Baker, William Boissevain, Howard Taylor, George Haynes, and Elizabeth Durack.
In the ever-popular jewellery section, there are the most stunning pieces at affordable prices. Each item has been examined by our gemmologist and in some cases come with the seller's insurance valuation certificates. There is also a good range of diamonds and coloured gemstones. Featured items include Lot 145, a 7.9ct diamond ring and Lot 194, a 1.86ct natural light pink diamond ring. As most of the jewellery comes from estates, with a genuine wish to sell, antique items are also included. For example, Lot 229, a piece by the famous South Australian maker, Henry Steiner.
If watches are your thing there are more than 20 authentic timepieces. The offering includes some of the world's most famous brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Omega and Le Coultre. Modern and vintage models are included.
Antique and collectable furniture is the section of the sale that represents the best value for money. Good furniture is always useable and is virtually timeless, impervious to fashion trends. Bidding starts low on these items so their hammer prices are sometimes unbelievably low.
There is an 'Australiana' section including some 'West Australiana' pieces such as jarrah pre-1900 furniture. A collection of antique Australian glass and ceramic bottles is a new field in the line-up. It's an area that has a dedicated core of collectors who will be delighted with this offering.
