Finally! The Vivian Maier movie is being played in cinemas around Australia.
If I had to list my Top 5 favourite photographers ever, Vivian Maier is definitely there. Her street photography portfolio just takes my breath away.
The story of how we came to know Vivian and her work is a most incredible story and most people who are aware of Vivian's work will already know it. It revolves around a major discovery driven by being in the right place at the right time and also a sheer determination by one man, John Maloof, to get her work known to the world and into the history books.
I have been fortunate to view the documentary (twice) and will be heading to the cinema to see it again on the big screen. For anyone with a keen interest in photography, you really must see it before the movie's run finishes.
Finding Vivian Maier is highly recommended viewing. The woman was a genius, and the man who has protected and catalogued her work is a saint.
The movie is being shown exclusively at the
Palace Nova in Adelaide. Check their website for session times and ticketing info and be quick to get in and see it - the sessions may last just a couple of weeks (it all depends on demand).
