You’ll Know Why Once You've Found it
This is a quaint little cafe which is simply styled and features many interesting menu items. Some are old favourites and others invented by the owners. They also sell products to take away like coffee and other beverages, chutneys and jams.
For breakfast you can pick from the menu or select some freshly made salads from the bar such as Breakfast Salad of rocket avocado, bacon, goats cheese, cherry tomatoes and sourdough topped with poached eggs for $16. I had the very delicious cous cous with chargrilled pumpkin, rocket, and feta.
For just $14 you can enjoy a Bircher muesli that has been soaked overnight in apple juice and milk and served with vanilla yoghurt, shredded apple and berries or the honey roasted muesli with walnuts, almonds, coconut and dried apricots, topped with yoghurt and berries.
The Smashed Avocado is my usual pick for breakfast but not today. My friend enjoyed her smashed avocado with feta, infused with lemon and lime, topped with sweet corn and cherry tomatoes on wholegrain sourdough toast plus 2 eggs ($19). It was a large serve, styled creatively and piled high on the plate with corn being a surprise addition.
As an idea of the price and lunch selection, they sell soft-shell tacos with southern fried chicken, chili beans, lime aioli, cheese and jalapenos for $18. A double cheeseburger will set you back $16 or you could try the Vietnamese salad of pulled pork, carrots, cucumber, coriander, spring onions and Vietnamese mint with a lime and chili dressing for $17.
My other friend chose the carrot cake. You can tell by the photo that this is a work of art. I don't think you would get a tastier or healthier carrot cake. It topped with dried apricots, pumpkin seeds and walnuts. It was absolutely superb. Beware this is a very large serve and enough for ameal in itself.
I think the presentation and quality of the food shines above everything but I should note that the customer service was also very friendly. Upon request they were very happy to share a copy of the menu with me as I left. This is a small business run by enthusiastic young people worth supporting. You'll know why they called it Finders Keepers once you've found it!
