Experience contemporary art with NORTH
Supported by the North Sydney Council & the Greens, NORTH is a contemporary arts group that, run by the artists themselves, showcases works in the forms of sound, photography, scultpture and paintings. From the 3rd to the 20th of August they will be producing an exciting exhibition that you don't want to miss, simply called 'Finale'.
The gallery, located on 53 Ridge Street in North Sydney, will be showcasing various pieces from 10am until 4pm from Wednesday to Saturday for this event. The official opening night will take place on Friday August 12th from 6 until 8pm. It is free to attend and you will also be welcomed with complimentary drinks, nibbles and music entertainment. Dillon Frazier will be the sweet sounds for your ears on the night, all while you are browsing the new and relative artworks by artists:
Eleanor McDonald Amelia Reid Rosemary Reynolds Ingrid Van Der Aa
Tamsin Salehian Alex Thorby
- Vicki White &
- Fleur Wiber
The exhibition doesn't just end here!
On Thursday the 18th August, NORTH will be hosting their Acoustic Session VIII. There will be tickets available at the door for $10 general admission and $5 for concession, students & artists. This is a very small price to pay for the entertainment and amazing night they have in store for you.
Bill Hunt who has recently received critical acclaim for his album ''Upwey", will perform and make you rethink that it's never too late to start something you are passionate in. His songs have been played nationwide and overseas, he will definitely give a performance to remember.
The cleverly named "Men with Day Jobs" are a group of guys who refuse to act their age, and I think we will all thank them for that! With a reputation of having energetic and humorous live performances, they will for sure be a treat to witness in action. John Hurtley with the Sydney Morning Herald describes them as "funny, poignant, political... ingenious", and to see them in such a small area will definitely be a treat.
Last but not least for your all-acoustic entertainment is Dr Taos. Described as medicinal music, this guy fuses celtic rock with British blues and is a definite reason to attend NORTH's exhibition. Having just finished a tour in the United States and Australia, you can catch Dr Taos before he leaves to Europe in a one-of-a-kind intimate setting.
NORTH is a site to experiment and create and revel in the creative minds of those around us. This excellent exhibition is something not to miss. For more information you can head to their website by clicking here. Or go and see for yourself the masterpieces and musical delight that awaits you.
