So many cakes so little time
I love this place! This is any dessert fanciers heaven, situated in a small corner shop along Lygon Street in Carlton North.

Before my partner and I can even step inside, we do a lap of nearby princes park to earn our croissant and oh my goodness they are light and buttery and melt and in your mouth and I want one now! Plus, I have been to France and I can tell you these are the closest I've had to over there.

But that's not all they have to tempt you. There's almond choc brownies, tarts of all descriptions, cheese cake and cookies and macaroons and gingerbread men and gorgeous chocolate butterfly cakes and see that's why I have to go for a run first!

These people know how to do desserts and they make them fresh each day and you can tell it's a beautiful thing.

You can also order coffees and bread if you want, but really they are just extras.

The only thing to keep in mind is that it's tiny so while there is seating inside, it's a squeeze. There is also seating outside but its next to Lygon Street which can be nosy so carefully tuck your treats away and snuffle them with great gusto at home. M

Mind you, I don't mind it being small; I like that it's a local secret and such a happy spot.

So if you are having a ho-hum Saturday or Sunday, slip on your trainers and go straight to Filous - you're sure to find something to make you taste buds happy.

Oh my goodness, I love cakes and pastries. I would have to do more than one lap of the park to work them off.
