The month of October is full of film festivals! Earlier this month we just saw Love & Pride Film Festival, CINEda:ns 2017, The Odex Film Festival, ACCA Ethics Film Festival 2017, and Finnish Film Festival 2017.

Asia's first ever Monaco Film Festival presents 13 spectacular films ranging from classic movies to animated films. It highlights the glamour of the French Riviera over the last 60 years. The lineup of movies includes Grand Prix, The Red Shoes, La Fille de Monaco, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, and To Catch A Thief starring Grace Kelly. This festival is hosted by the Monaco Tourist Bureau with the support of Alliance Franšaise de Singapour and Singapore Film Society. Learn more about the festival here.

Visitors can also visit the exclusive photo and art exhibition showcasing never-seen-before vintage posters of films shot in Monaco in the last 70 years at Alliance Francaise de Singapour for free. Photographs of Taiwanese Superstar Lin Chi-ling touring Monaco published in Vogue Taiwan August 2017 edition are exhibited too.

Women in Film 2017

The 3rd edition of Women in Film highlights the career of Kiki Sugino, a versatile director, producer and actress hailed as a muse of Asian indie cinema. It also showcases a selection of groundbreaking feature-length and short films from Europe, the United States and Singapore. The programme celebrates extraordinary and groundbreaking works by women photographers and filmmakers, highlighting the important contributions that women make to the arts. The festival is part of Objectifs' annual Women in Film and Photography. For details, please visit Objectifs.

It is free admission for those who wish to see Women in Photography at Chapel Gallery, Objectifs, from now until 19 November.

Perspectives Film Festival: Breakthroughs in Cinema celebrates its 10th anniversary with REBELS as this year's theme. This Singapore's only student-run film festival boasts a bold line-up with 11 international films including 3 Singapore premieres. Films such as City of Ghosts, I Am Not a Witch, and Behemoth. Ticket holders of Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors can come for the presentation by Stas Menzelevskyi on 28 October 4:30pm at Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore. The head of the Research and Programming Department at Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre (Ukraine's State Film Archive) will give a talk about his work with the centre, its history, and the challenges of managing a post-Soviet film archive in the postcolonial era.

Highlights of this film festival include Free Lunch Society premiering in Asia for the first time, Dries offering an intimate insight into the life, mind and creative heart of one of the fashion industry's most private designers, Dries Van Noten, and Hanzi, exploring international design, visual culture and identity through the lens of modern Chinese typography. The festival features over 30 award-winning feature-length and short films. It examines the significance of art in society by looking at how people live and work with art around the world. Highlights of this festival are Asia premiere of The New Rijksmuseum, Beauty and Ruin focusing on Detroit - once the center of American industrial power but now facing bankruptcy, and Southeast Asia premiere of EXPRMNTL - one of the most important film festivals ever organised for the international avant-garde.
