The small suburb of Williamtown, just north of Newcastle, is known around Australia as the home of the FA18 Fighter Squadron at the Royal Australian Air Force Base (RAAF).

On any weekend you will find cars pulled up along side the RAAF Base to watch the aircraft come and go.

The history of Australian Fighter Squadrons, other aircraft and air related memorabilia can be seen at Fighter World. Fighter World is more than just a museum, it's a living history of Australian Airforce Operations.

The museum is open daily from 10am and has a small charge for entry. The aviation museum is not just for those into fighter aircraft as there are many other attractions. As the kids climb around the aircraft you can enjoy a coffee at the Cafe.

As the Fighter World Aviation Museum is located next to Australia's top air defence base. This museum offers a unique view into the daily operations of a working RAAF Base.

The museum has a website at and a Facebook page. Check out either site for some great photos and video clips of some amazing aircraft.
