Celebrate Fight Procrastination Day and get your life back
The first thing I do when I open my eyes in the morning is close them again and try to fall back asleep. If I succeed, then I won't be seen until hours later.
However, if I fail then I still won't be seen for hours later. I lie in bed and go through the list of stuff I have to do for the day. Number 1 - go to work. Number 2 - clean the house. Number 3 - survive. (Maybe I should have put that first.) And so the list goes on. Some days I wish I could lie there forever...who am I kidding? Some days? I mean everyday. There's one particular word I would use for this...procrastination.
Some say it's a bad thing. Me? I say I don't care what it is, as long as I can keep doing it. Yeah yeah yeah. I suppose at times it can get tiring to keep it up. I mean, it's hard work. Even people like me need a day off from procrastination.
A wise person once said, "Procrastinating isn't putting off work. It's putting off results." Don't ask me why, but they seemed to know that I wouldn't listen, so they had to point out there is a day solely for us procrastinators. "Fight Procrastination Day." Sounds inviting right? Maybe not at first, but think about it. Surely every procrastinator has felt that awful, guilty tug, knowing they are not getting that one, dreadful task done. I know I have.
Procrastination has a few downsides, other than it making you feel guilty. It keeps you stuck. Once you start procrastinating, it's hard to get out of it. It wastes your time. When I procrastinate, I don't realize how much stuff I'm missing. Maybe I was supposed to do something amazing. Do you think J.R.R. Tolkien would have been able to write The Lord of the Rings while procrastinating? I think not! It's stressful.
Remember what I said about that nagging in your head? Always being reminded about what you should be doing. It is the main reason procrastination is stressful. Because irritatingly enough, you know the voice is right.
So what do you do? You know that's all true, but is it really possible to start over? Yes, it is! And there is no better day than Fight Procrastination Day to begin! Get off your seat, fight procrastination, and get your life back!
