Here for a good time... not a long time.

Fremantle is well renowned for being quirky, vibrant and sometimes, just a little bit weird. Peppered with historical landmarks, Freo is a tourist and local hotspot with fine dining, pubs, clubs and boutique shopping all with a beautiful ocean setting.

Nestled right on South Beach, a little out of the way of the town centre, is a cafe that ticks all the Freo boxes. Part of a chain of three locations along the Perth coast, the Pickled Fig is a combination of modern décor and fresh free range and local produce. The Fig concept was based on sustainable and environmentally-friendly work practices through working with RSPCA approved chook farms, VOSS carbon neutral water companies and extensive recycling programs.

Knowing your doing your bit for the world, you can feel less guilty about indulging in the Fig's delectable menu, which also includes an extensive list of drinks and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located so close to the dog beach, its a great pit-stop to come and sit outside with your pooch for a coffee, provided he is well behaved of course!

If you have an appetite for breakfast, I can definitely recommend the Grizzly Bear Pancakes or one of their amazing fresh smoothies. The Pickled Fig is becoming wildly popular for the great atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of the cappuccino strip, so for something a bit different in Freo, it's well worth a try.
