Fez is a city in Morocco, a type of hat – and a very good café in Mount Lawley.

You can choose between pavement seating with a view of the passing parade or going inside, which has a sophisticated feel with its dark colour scheme.

The soup&gbv=2&rlz=1R2ADRA_enAU407&oq=harira soup&aq=f&aqi=g8g-m2&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=328l1953l0l2438l11l9l0l0l0l0l157l689l2.4l6l0&oi=image_result_group&sa=X harira soup ($13) is a filling, healthy, and budget-friendly choice. The tomato, lentil, and chickpea soup comes in an earthenware pot accompanied by quality white toast. If you'd like to cook it at home, there's a recipe here .

Traditionally, this soup is eaten in Morocco to break the daytime fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan – or on special occasions like for breakfast for the happy couple the first day after a marriage.

I also sampled the chicken burger, which would have been my first choice from the lunch menu if I hadn't been trying to be healthy. That, too, hit the mark with a good-sized chunk of chicken, avocado, and caramelised onions. It came served with chips and a delicious home-made lemon mayo.

According to its website, Fez is influenced not only by Moroccan food but also by Mediterranean, Continental, and French cuisine. It is open for breakfast and lunch.

Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive to our Little Miss Three, who had a ham and cheese toastie along with some of her dad's milkshake.

The coffee served here is premium Five Senses brand.

Fez is the best café I've found in Mount Lawley in the four months I've lived here. As well as being a city in Morocco. And a hat.
