The first of the three free festivals (try saying that fast) bought to you by the Broadbeach Alliance is just over a month away, and I for one, cannot wait.

I went to the Blues on Broadbeach and the Jazz Festival last year (the Country Festival is new this year) and it always surprises me that there are events of this quality, that are totally free.

They are so much fun, a wonderful atmosphere and such a variety of acts and live music that you will be sure to find something to your taste. Now I like Jazz music and I like Blues music, but I couldn't really name any modern artists and I don't know much about the line up, however in my experience that really doesn't matter.

There are a number of different venues and stages set up throughout Broadbeach and they all have a different feel - the later gigs in places like Jupiters, being more for the die hard fans and the day time and early evening sets at the outdoor stages being more family friendly and lighter to cater for larger crowds. The acts play in their traditional music style but with a popular twist so that even the most novice of attendees will recognise some songs, and be able to sing and dance along.

The best thing I think is the location of the two main stages where they close surf parade and put two stages at either end and then rotate acts throughout the afternoon and early evening. It makes for such a lively vibrant atmosphere and if you are lucky enough to get a seat outside at one of the many bars and restaurants on that strip, you have free entertainment all night long.

I am especially looking forward to the Country Music Festival, and if the other two are anything to go by I am in for a real treat. Country music is my guilty pleasure (shhh) and I really cannot wait to see what is on offer and the kind of crowd it draws. Yee Haa!

I have been to the Blues on Broadbeach in the rain and the Jazz Festival in the bright sunshine. Both were truly awesome - I met loads of people, made some good friends, danced in the street, sang along and thoroughly enjoyed myself... All for free.

Nearer the time you will be able to download or pick up a full brochure with all the times and venues, so you won't miss a thing.
