Looking for a fun, free event for the final weekend of the spring school holidays? The Festival of Sport will be taking place at Kardinia Park on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of October 2018 and offers a weekend of activities and entertainment for the whole family.
The festival will feature live entertainment, tours, celebrity appearances, and over 30 'Come and Try' activations each day.
Some of the highlights will include:
Geelong Cats Tours If you've ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of your favourite AFL team, then you won't want to miss this part of the festival. Geelong Cats will be running free 1-hour tours on the first day of the festival, starting at 10.00am, 10.30am 11.30am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm and 1.30pm.
The tours will give fans the opportunity to walk through areas such as the Brownlow Stand, gym, warm-up area, coaches box and more, and fans will also be able to have a look at heritage items and the premiership cups.
Places are limited, so make sure you book early to avoid missing out.
On the second day of the festival, a number of free workshops will take place on a variety of topics.
The workshops will include:
Every Step Counts (11:15am - 12pm)
This workshop will be run by Paralympic gold and silver medallist Kelly Cartwright.
Playing Like a Girl and Loving it! (12:45pm - 1:30pm)
This workshop will examine women in sport. The panel will include Deakin University Professor Chris Hickey, former international cricketer Belinda Clark, and Geelong Cats Women's Football Strategy Manager Simone Bellears.
Eat Well, Play Well (2pm-2:45pm) Dr Dominique Condo is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Sports Dietitian and will be running this workshop on the topic of nutrition and sport.
Bookings are not required for the workshops, so just come along on the day.
