The Workshop Arts Centre (WAC) is an independent, not-for-profit arts and workshop centre in Willoughby which was established in 1961 to promote and encourage appreciation in the creative and visual arts.

The Festival of Other Arts is one of the great events held at WAC and this year, the Festival promises to deliver amazing workshops, exhibitions and performances which are not to be missed.

The programme in 2016 will kick off on 5 March with Art That Moves, a unique evening of performance art that received great reviews in 2015. The Festival will end on 19 March with a gala fundraising concert at the Zenith Theatre, featuring two internationally acclaimed artists, French concert pianist Francois Gassion and Canadian singer Patricia O'Callaghan.

During the Festival, there will be a selection of workshops, artists' talks and two exhibitions in the Ewart Gallery, including:

  • Workshop Film Group Screening of Aya;
  • Weaving, sculpture, animation and video exhibitions;
  • Workshops in pochoir, sculpture, photography, basketry, paper art, weaving, stained glass, lace making, ceramic jewellery, animation and more.

  • More information about the workshops, exhibitions and performances, including dates, bookings and cost, can be found on the Festival of Other Arts page of the WAC website .

    There are events and workshops which will appeal to all age groups, with the Animation for Teens sure to be a hit with young creative minds.

    This is a great opportunity to look, listen and learn from some amazing local artists and to lose yourself in some creative pursuits.
