In its second year, this festival of Italian chefs preparing food inspired by their Mammas, returns to Melbourne and Sydney. Guests will have the opportunity not only to eat delicious food but sit down with the chef and his Mamma, the one who undoubtedly inspired him in so many ways.
At the Festival of Nonna, besides delicious Italian food being served, there will be cooking secrets shared, wine to enjoy and even a small gift at the end to take home as a reminder of this event. The two Italian chefs to cook for you in Melbourne will be Luca Ciano and Massimo Mele in Sydney it will be Luca Ciano, Andrew Cibej , and Eugenio Maiale with their respective Mamas or Nonnas (as they are known once grandchildren come along or they reach a certain stage of life).
Nonnas are very important in the Italian kitchen and family life. They are at the centre of the kitchen but also at the centre of family life. Nonna's cooking is seen as an antidote to many of life's problems and there is a feeling that once you sit down to Nonna's pasta dish all will be much better with the world. Each Nonna has her own, often closely-guarded recipe, that will be passed down through the generations. No one can make it as well as she does, something that may appear as sons and mothers cook dinner for you at the festival.
The traditional Italian feast will feature Sandhurst Fine Foods products and costs $65. The Festival of Nonna will commence in Melbourne from October 8th to 10th, and later in the month, from October 22nd to 26th, in Redfern, Sydney for five evenings at 107 Projects. Please note many of the dinners are already sold out, the ones below can be booked here so be quick!
