Family friendly Halloween event Gold Coast
Halloween also known as All Hallows' Eve or All Saints' Eve is a spooky holiday where ghouls, witches and other scary monsters roam about. Kids also have a lot of fun dressing up whilst trick or treating and filling up on lollies.
We are going to be in Gold Coast in Halloween with a toddler and when I started searching for activities we could do, the majority were either really scary for a small child, too late (parties), or too expensive. I was delighted when I came across the FestEvil, which is a family-friendly event held at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday the 26th of October from 6pm to 9pm at a reasonable price.
Tickets cost $15 for adults or $12.50 if you are a member of the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) member. Kids under 4 are free but you still need to book a ticket online at here. Children aged 4-14 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Although the event starts at 6pm, there are markets open at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary which starts at 4pm with lots of food stalls including food such as dumplings, tacos, paella, curries and burgers where you can browse and stop by for an early dinner before entry.
Enter the Fangtuary and ride a spooky (but not too scary) ghost train through the Sanctuary at night. Even if your kids have visited the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in the daytime, there is a whole different atmosphere at night with the nocturnal corridor highlighted.
Your kids can discover what the bats get up to in the dark and take photos with snakes and owls. Creepy crawly bugs are also on display. There will be witches wandering about with Baily and Bundy the Barking Owls. There are also trick or treats and fun activities for the kids such as the Blinky Dance Party, Mini Monster Show, kids disco with Sunny Skye and the Mini Monster show.
Dress up in costumes for a fun time. Numbers are limited so make sure you book soon!
