Explore the world of wet felting and unleash your creativity
The Fabric and Felt Studio is offering an exciting series of interactive Felting Classes in 2025.
Led by Shelley Burton, this is an opportunity to try your hand at the fascinating art of wet felting and meet awesome 'crafty' friends in a fun, encouraging and supportive setting.
Creating felt from wool is one of the oldest known textiles. It is a highly versatile craft that turns wool (both natural and synthetic) into fabric without any need for spinning and weaving.
In this series of workshops, you will have the opportunity to discover the unique art of wet felting and produce something beautiful and original by the end of the session!
All are welcome, whether you are new to the wonderful world of felting or looking to expand your skills. All required materials are supplied.

Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Cost : $68.00 Includes all materials and three hour tuition
In this class, you’ll delve into the rich history of felt-making, discovering how ancient techniques have influenced and inspired modern wet felting methods.
Step-by-step, you’ll be guided through the entire process of wet felting, from laying out the foundation to designing and shaping your flowers using fine merino wool rovings.

Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Cost: $85.00 Includes all materials and three hour tuition
This is a fun and hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art of wet felting and master the super cool ‘resist’ technique. With this technique, you’ll use a special flexible material to stop the wool fibres from sticking together, allowing you to sculpt and shape your felted creations in awesome 3D.
Dates: Saturday 28 June or Friday 08 August 2025
Time: 9.30am – 2.30pm
Cost: $165.00 per person including tuition and all materials
Get ready to dive into the world of felting as you choose between two exquisite options: a Silk Georgette or Wool Base scarf, available in white or black.
During this hands-on workshop, you’ll have access to a vibrant array of materials, including a wall adorned with coloured light merino wool fibres, silk yarn, wool yarn, and stunning recycled silk sari fabrics. These materials will ignite your creativity and help you bring your envisioned design to life.

Time: 9.30am – 1.30pm
Cost: $78.00 includes all material and 4 hour tuition
Experiment with colours, textures, and embellishments to create a unique fibre art piece that you can wear as 'Felted Jewellery.' Learn the basics of wet felting, whilst exploring the versatility of pre-felt, and master techniques for crafting rope designs along with beads and flowers.

Learn the art of wet felting to create a unique and eco-friendly journal cover using recycled fabrics. Wet felting is a process that involves binding wool fibres together with the help of water, soap, and agitation. By repurposing old fabrics, you will not only create a beautiful journal cover but also contribute to sustainable crafting!
