Felicity Ward is probably best known by her appearances on "The Ronnie Johns Half Hour," ABC's "Spicks and Specs" and Channel Seven's "Thank God You're Here." Having been the back to back winner of the best local act in 2011 and 2012 at the Sydney Comedy Festival, winner of the best Australian act at the Perth Comedy Festival and receiving various other nominations, her reputation definitely precedes her. Some may say that she doesn't need any more praise, but let's take this chance to inflate her ego a bit more!
The Hedgehog Dilemma is based on a psychological principal which suggests that in order to keep warm in winter Hedgehogs must risk hurting each other with their spikes, or brave the winter chill alone. How does this have any relevance to a comedy show? Ward delights and entertains the audience with a rendition of her own life, failed relationships and in a way, braving that lonely winter.
Appearing on stage in her wedding dress, she tells a tale of her own experiences, somehow managing to engage her audience despite the gloomy subject matter. No one could contain their laughter and the atmosphere was simply jovial. It was this tone that she seemed to thrive off and the show seemed to get better as it went on.
Unfortunately Ward has finished her tour of the Hedgehog Dilemma. She was choking down tears as she exited the stage; however her comedy career is far from over. She is currently working on new material and for those who still wish to see the Hedgehog Dilemma; the DVD will be released soon, so keep an eye out! This show is definitely worth a watch.
