Melbourne has a library of events and activities that pay homage to the written word throughout the year. Major events include the Melbourne Writers' Festivals (MWF) and the Rare Book Week. MWF brings together 60,000 participants together with writers from Australia and around the world. To add to that list is the city's largest weekly book market at Federation Square. Located in The Atrium, this market brings together 15 of Melbourne's most experienced book dealers as well as authors and illustrators every Saturday. You and your family can browse and select from over 5,000 new and pre-loved books covering genres from history and travel to gardening and children's stories. Afterwards, grab a bite and take a stroll around Federation Square and enjoy the various free exhibitions held at ACMI and The Ian Potter Centre, NGV Australia every month.
