Santa Claus is coming to town, but while you wait for him to get here why not watch a few holiday movies to get you in the mood?

At this time of year it's nice to sit back, relax and enjoy a fun Christmas movie, something light-hearted and funny that the whole family can enjoy together or that you can watch with the kids.

There are loads of movies made with a Christmas theme, some you've probably never seen and some you've never even heard of. Apart from the usual 'cinema length' movies, there are plenty of short films and specials made especially for televison

Watching Christmas movies can help to get you into the festive spirit but there are so many Christmas movies out now that it can be difficult to pick a really good one. So, what is your favourite Christmas movie?

Firstly we have the old classic Christmas movies. Most of these old movies were made in black and white but some have been re-made or re-mastered. These can include Charles Dickens classic tale, A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, It's A Wonderful Life and White Christmas.

There are lots of modern Christmas Movies available such as The Santa Clause series of movies starring Tim Allen. How about Christmas With The Kranks also starring Tim Allen, Surviving Christmas starring Ben Affleck, Nativity starring Martin Freeman, The Grinch starring Jim Carrey, Elf starring Will Ferrell, Deck The Halls starring Danny DeVito and Jingle All The Way starring Arnold Schwarzenegger?

For the young and the young at heart, animated Christmas movies are fun to watch. Have you ever seen Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Arthur Christmas and The Polar Express?

There are new Christmas movies brought out each year and some old favourites that are great to watch time and time again. Do you remember movies like the Christmas Muppet Movies, the Home Alone movies, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Hogfather, which is based on the Terry Pratchett book of the same name, and Shrek The Halls, which contains all the favourite characters from the popular Shrek movies?

This is just a short list of Christmas movies that you could rent or buy. If there are some here that you haven't see make sure to ask Santa for them when you write your letter to him.

In the mean time, please let us know - what's your favourite Christmas movie?

Happy holidays.

One of my favourites is Definitely 'Rudolph, The Red Nose Reindeer'. The stock animation may look clumsy and dated, but that is part of why I love it. Another fave is 'Home Alone' 1 & 2.
