West Australian Opera's 2015 season is concluding with the lavish production of
Faust at His Majesty's Theatre from 29 October to 7 November.
Gounod's
Faust is a dramatic battle between good and evil and a tragic tale of temptation, romance and betrayal. Reflecting on his life, an aged and disillusioned Faust feels nothing but dissatisfaction and regret. Faust pays the ultimate price as he bargains with the Devil, to give his soul in exchange for youth and beauty. He barely hesitates, as the garish Méphistophélès, tempts him to swap his life of restraint and dissatisfaction in exchange for the wild pursuit of hedonistic pleasure.
Faust's terrible pact plays out in all of its sinister splendour with Charles Gounod's rich and beautiful music.
The Creative team
Scottish director David McVicar created this production, which includes theatre, dance, and drama, for the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. WAO's Artistic Director Brad Cohen will be conducting the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by the West Australian Opera Chorus.
