Is there a city in the world with more deluxe playgrounds than Perth? In terms of variety and quality for our children, I'd openly visit a city that thinks it can rival us.

On the weekend, we made our way East, to a long time favourite, Faulkner Park in Belmont. More commonly, at least in our home though this icon in the park realm is referred to as the "Volcano Park."

The playground has some of the best equipment in Perth and the fact that it's fully fenced for this busy mum of three is just heavenly.

Expect loads of sand, a lengthy flying fox and a variety of swings, slides and climbing frames. The designated, separate toddler area is standout and quite unique, second only to the giant volcano that dominates the centre of the playground. This volcano has plenty of curling walkway and slides to get you up to and down from the summit. I did, however, witness the 'cool' way to scale this mountain is straight up the sides.

In the six years we have been visiting the "Volcano Park", I've not witnessed the steam effect coming from the top. This weekend, however, it was on constantly, much to the delight of the constant stream of children shrieking under the smoky mist.

This park boasts several BBQ areas and picnic tables, however, we arrived at 10:30am, and they were all taken for birthday parties and the like. My advice is to arrive early if you are planning an event, or need a table. Add it to the list though, the kids (and the adults) will adore!
