Let someone else shout Dad a beer for Fathers' Day
Tasting paddle at the Local Tap House

There are any number of restaurants offering expensive gourmet meals on Father's Day but s WeekendNotes readers like a bit of value added, so this list only lists places that offer your Dad a free beer.

There was another criterion, the meals had to be a bit blokey. Father's Day is not the day for quiche and limp lettuce salad. We save Dads from themselves the rest of the year and this is one day we should let them beef it up a bit.

The Local Tap House in St Kilda tap over 220 different beers each year. If you book a Father's Day meal Dad can get a free tasting paddle of five beers (Dad's choice!)

Meals are extra blockey with their beer beef burger, man-sized schnitzel and extras such as beer battered fries. This place has been pulling in excellent reviews.

Or how about a juicy steak served with buttered mash and onion marmalade? This place specialises in all kinds of grain fed and pasture fed bovines --T-bones, porterhouse, eye fillet, New York Sirloins cooked just the way Dad would if he was behind the barbecue.

Prices on steaks range from $28 to$46. But Dad gets a free beer when he arrives and as a nice touch, kids under 12 years eat free on Father's Day if ordering from the Kids Menu.

Your Comment
'Father's Day is not the day for quiche and limp lettuce salad.' That's one of the best lines I've heard. Definitely quote worthy.
