One of the main events at the festival, The Warrior Run is open to all backgrounds, ages and abilities. Distances include a 2km kids dash, and a 5 & 10km run. This is a significant fundraising event for the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF), a charity organisation that uses running to drive change in Indigenous communities nation-wide. If you'd like to help, please head to the website to support a fundraiser, become a fundraiser, or simply donate. Enjoy the run and stay for the festivities.
Participants will be invited to wear some Indigenous themed face paint markings; paint provided! Unique Indigenous cultural experiences and traditional music and entertainment are on the cards for an unforgettable atmosphere, along with over 20 market stalls. Enjoy a BBQ of kangaroo, crock and emu burgers!
The Blak Markets also have an online store, if you're keen on taking a peek. Selling Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island arts and crafts, expands opportunities for Indigenous people to sell Indigenous products year round, and not just when the markets run. You get guaranteed authenticity and 100% of the profit goes towards social change in Aboriginal communities around Australia. Check their Facebook page as they're looking for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island staff over the age of 17 and preferably with a drivers license. They're looking to fill jobs as a retail assistant, barista and food handling at the BBQ.
