An opportunity to stop a moment to celebrate the great men in your life. The Father's Day Festival hosted by Centennial Parklands and The Indigenous Marathon Foundation will be held at Centennial Parklands, Parade Grounds, Grand Drive, Sydney on Sunday 1 September 2019 from 7.30am to 2pm and entry to the Festival is FREE; however the fundraiser Warrior Run incurs a registration cost.
A fun festival for the whole family, filled with a cultural atmosphere that brings together local Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, you'll find a variety of Indigenous market stalls, traditional and contemporary Indigenous music, food, dance and entertainment. Visit the workshop tent for a bush tucker cooking demo or learn the skill of weaving. You can also join in the creation of a huge interactive sand painting with artist Walangari Karntawarra. Public transport is recommended to get to the Festival as only limited parking is available.
Bring all the men in your life, your dad, granddad, uncles and brothers to the Park, sample some bush food, watch a warrior dance, or join in the Warrior Run. Open to all, do the 5k or 10k run or the 2k dash suited to kids and adults for a fun run. Check HERE for race event info and HERE for Course Map.
You're encouraged to REGISTER ONLINE prior to the event, however, you'll still be able to register on the day, unless the event is sold out prior. This Run is a huge fundraiser for the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF), a charity organisation that uses running to drive change in Indigenous communities nation-wide. Participants will be invited to wear some Indigenous themed face paint markings (paint provided!).
Kids not running in the event will be entertained with sports activities just for kids. They can try mini-tennis, golf and soccer thanks to Moore Park Golf,Centennial Parklands Sport Centre and Kickeroos. Indigenous fitness specialist Jeff Morgan will lead a personal training session based on his popular Lifestyle Program.
