Imagine the scenario, Father's Day is fast approaching, you have no money and if you did, you wouldn't know what to do anyway. There are a variety of events being held to celebrate Father's Day and some are for
free.
A
free event is being run by Connecting Community for Kids on the 1st of September (technically a day before Father's Day) from 10 am – 12 noon at the Child and Parent Centre Calista, Harlow Road. It's a chance to celebrate and show appreciation for the contribution fathers and father figures make in our lives.
There are a plethora of planned activities, something for everyone even mothers, including a sausage sizzle, craft activities, face painting as well as games. Just imagine your father figure with a painted face?
Connecting4kids can be contacted by phone on 0429904324 or email
[email protected]. You can also get further information from their
website .
The idea of a special day to honour fathers and celebrate fatherhood was first celebrated in the United States. A woman called Sonora Smart Dodd was inspired by the American Mother's Day celebrations and planned a day to honour fathers early in the 20th century. The first Father's Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington on June 19, 1910. Father's Day has become increasingly popular throughout Australia and other parts of the world.
Come join the celebration on September 1st 10 am – 12 pm at Child and Parent Centre Calista for free.
