Father's Day Activities in Perth

Sunday September 2 is the day we celebrate dads. And if you haven't got your day organised yet, read on to find out what's going on in Perth.

The Perth Zoo is offering free entry for dads on Father's Day. And if you're looking for a special animal-inspired gift, why not book the Breakfast and Close Encounter Package for Dad? It'll cost you $95 and he'll be able to get face to face with the elephants. You need to book in advance. Click here to find out more.

There are also a lot of special babies on show at the zoo including African Painted Dog pups, a giraffe calf, two orangutan youngsters, a baby White-cheeked Gibbon, Pygmy Marmoset twins and Bilby joeys.

Dads also get in free when accompanied by at least one child at the Perth Mint in East Perth. So if you've been meaning to have a look ever since you watched the Great Mint Swindle, Father's Day is the perfect time.

What about the movies?

Read my reviews on some of the latest flicks that Dad might like.

Hope Springs starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones; moving documentary Bully and The Campaign starring Will Ferrell.

I'd also consider The Bounce Legacy or The Dark Knight Rises.

Get outside.

If it's a sunny one, Perth's parks will be the go. And the Kings Park Festival will have just started with a focus on wildflowers. Beachside might also be the go. Try Trigg Beach, Watermans or South Beach and pack a picnic or sizzle a sausage.

There's also a lot going on at the shopping centres now that Sunday trading has officially started. It's more the kids, but that just means dad can chill with a coffee, right?

Find face painters at Centro Kalamunda and Maddington and giant bubbles at Westfield Whitfords. Hit up your local centre's website to see what's happening near you.
