Activities ideas from the Calm to the Extreme
Daddy's little girl Little girls are happy with the simplest of activities with their daddy- from dancing together, playing at the park or having a tea party. As they get older maintaining the father-daughter bond may take more creative thinking but It's certainly worth the effort.
Daddy-daughter date Whether your daughter is 4 or 40, a daddy-daughter date is a great way to bond. The date can be as simple as a picnic in the park or spoiling her at a fancy restaurant. Girls love it when their Dad makes them feel special.
I love going out for lunch or spending time with my Dad
How about going horse riding, canoeing, bike riding or hiking together. Or if you are thrill seekers maybe something more adrenaline pumping such as white water rafting, taking a hot lap in a V8 supercar or doing a skydive or bungy jump together. Now that would be memorable and bonding.
Go to a concert/event/exhibition together When my daughter was 15 she and her Dad went to a concert together. They came home buzzing with excitement and laughter. She bemoaned that her Dad was embarrassing as he fist pumped the air in the mosh pit, but you could tell she loved the whole outing with him.
If going to a concert with your "old" Dad is too embarrassing, maybe your daughter would prefer going to a sporting event or an art exhibition instead.
Just with her Each year my husband would take each of our children, 1 to 1 on a weekend with him, of their choice. Our daughter loved these special weekends with her Dad. They usually went camping and did things like ate marshmallows around the camp fire and went fishing or hiking through the bush. They also went 4 wheel driving and did skiing trips. They always came home with fun tales of their antics.
If you can't spare a whole weekend a day together could be just as special. Let her be involved in the planning and I am sure you'll have a great time together.
