With Christmas coming barrelling towards us and Santa already appearing in department stores across the country, now seems like a good time to have a look for some seasonal books to read to the kids.
Father Christmas Needs A Wee is a cheeky seasonal picture book that is small enough to fit in a Christmas stocking. It's a simple counting rhyme that would be good for kids learning to count from one to ten. As Father Christmas visits each house it counts all the food and drinks he has had (eg. "at number one, one hot choc, yum! At number two, two plates of stew..."). Then counts back down again listing the various presents he left at each house (eg. "at number 10 he left ten pens...") before poor Father Christmas can get home to go to the toilet. He rushes home only to find that he has lost his house key. I can relate, Santa, I really can.
This book has not yet been approved by my three year old because she will be receiving it as a present (Shhh!) but I think she'll like it. The counting part should be fun for a child who is working on that and the mention of wee makes most kids (and many adults) giggle.
