Melrose is a small town in the mid north of South Australia, nestling in the shadows of Mount Remarkable and the Flinders Ranges. The town can be quiet and sleepy at some times of the year, but is fast becoming a jewel in SA's crown for single track mountain biking. Melrose bursts to life on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June when the Fat Tyre Festival comes to town.
Mountain bike riders from around Australia come to
Melrose and Mount Remarkable for the popular Fat Tyre Festival every June long weekend. Riders love the chilled out vibe and non competitive nature of the event. They come to improve their skills, ride trails they wouldn't normally be allowed to ride, meet new friends and enjoy all the entertainment throughout the day and night.
You'll find some of South Australia's best off road mountain biking trails located in the Melrose area. The trails are designed for all skill levels, with the black diamond runs guaranteed to test the skills of the most battle ready mountain bikers. There is plenty of single track and downhill riding to get your teeth into too.
Why not bring the family for four days of fun and mountain bike adventure in some of our state's most scenic country? It's not only about mountain biking - there's great food, live music entertainment and adventure, all enjoyed in the fresh air and under the peak of the imposing Mount Remarkable.
You need to register for the Fat Tyre Festival, which brings a whole heap of benefits:
