Meet the Brogan Way distillers
The Fat Goat is showcasing the popular Brogan's Way Distillery at their first Meet the Maker event of 2019.
The Fat Goat is a small bar in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, approximately a 50 minutes drive from the heart of Melbourne. They have modelled their business on those in England, where there are many micropubs springing up. They concentrate on small-batch beers and spirits, instigate conversations and have some bar food for your enjoyment. They even welcome well-behaved dogs, as long as they are on a lead at all times.
Brogan's Way is actually the result of years of hard work, training and handcrafting by the head distiller, Brogan Carr and her father, Simon. Recently they launched a Richmond distillery which shows their distinctive taste - it features copper tones and plain bricks in this former mechanics garage. They created everything about Brogan's Way with specific intentions, starting from their plain bottles to the exquisite branding. The actual gin in the bottles is just as pleasant and impressive. Their basic range features three gins:
The Everyday Salvation which is a classic dry gin
Evening Light which is fresh and fruity
The Royal Blood which is a 57.2 per cent, and termed a navy-strength special-occasion gin.
As the company becomes more established, they are also making some original seasonal gins. Some of these, and indeed the favourite of management, include their spiced strawberry gin, which is made out of lovely fresh in-season strawberries. It is a collaboration with Marionette Liqueur.
If you attend their function, you will be able to learn their story, taste these unique gins and speak to the makers.
You can register for the event at this link. As they are a small micropub and only have limited space, you will be able to register for one of three timeslots - 6.00 pm to 6.45 pm, 7.00 pm to 7.45 pm, or 8.00 pm to 8.45 pm.
The menu for the event will be as follows:
Gin paddle tasting four of the Brogan's Way gins, including a rare gin, with garnish and tonic - $15
Matched cheese platter with the gin - $15
Gin cocktail designed by Brogan's Way - $14
Places must be booked in advance as they are strictly limited. You will also be able to buy bottles of the Brogan's Way gins on the night, so that you can continue to enjoy it at home.
