It's more than just pizza & pasta
At a first glance, one might think that Fasta Pasta, as the name suggests, is a bistro type place suitable for just a quick bite when you are in a rush. On the contrary, the place is an elegant and modern Italian café appropriate for family dinners, birthday parties, and romantic dates.
Frameless glass windows create an open contemporary space and a stacked stone wall design in combination with dimmed lights make the place very cosy.
However, the atmosphere is not the only benefit of the place. Fasta Pasta prides itself on their pasta and pizza dishes inspired by age-old Southern Italian recipes. The menu also offers a range of starters, salads, mains, kids' options as well as desserts and gelato.
My personal favourite was one of the mains called Pollo Delizia. This meal included grilled chicken breast cooked in white wine and cream with rosemary potatoes and a garden salad on the side. I also tried one of the daily specials written on the board - mango and prawn salad. It was quite good although a bit too exotic for my taste.
The prices are quite reasonable for all the meals; pasta dishes start at $9.90 up to $11.90 if you order them in the main size. Mains are a bit more pricey starting from $15.90 up to $20.90. There is also a lunch special offer where you can choose a meal out of 7 options for just $7 or $9.90 with a glass of wine/bottled beer.
A combination of reasonable prices, great atmosphere and convenient location make it a wonderful birthday party location. I was helping out my boyfriend to find a place to celebrate his birthday and I had a challenge to find a place which is both moderately priced and elegant at the same time. After a half an hour browse through WeekendNotes and having added a few places to my "to do" list, Fasta Pasta came to my mind and I decided not to experiment and to go with what we both knew and liked. The best option for a birthday party of more than 6 people would be to book a table in the secluded room which overlooks the street. This room has a very long table suitable for about 25 people and a few small tables for 2.
Apparently, Fasta Pasta is a franchise and a friend of mine has been to a few locations around Adelaide and was happy with the quality of the food and service. I have not been to any other locations yet, however I encourage you to try and leave a comment about your experience there.
The Fasta Pasta at South Terrace is located within a walkable distance from Japanese style Himeji Gardens. This presents an amazing opportunity to go for a casual walk after lunch to burn some calories that came from your Italian meal or before dinner to stimulate the appetite.
