is a youth dance festival running for its 5th year. This dance project encourages young dancers and choreographers under 21 to showcase their talent in a performance for 5 minutes or less. The heats were held on Nov 14 and 15 where more than 100 dancers participated. The best 16 dances were then chosen for a finale on November 17th.



The dancers presented all dance styles including hip-hop, contemporary, ballet, jazz. Their passion for dance and hard work and effort was clearly evident in performances. Brett and Maria's heartfelt performance 'I'm not Yours' was very well received by the audience and it won them the audience choice award.

Performance You by Kei Ishii and Demo-Jo Manale was also noteworthy. The engaging performance coupled by the dancers expressions lead Demi-Jo to win the best female dancer award.



The Silk performance was given by a group of 5 girls in their Diploma year in National College of dance. Isabelle Leonard was awarded an award for best Choreography.

Another noteworthy performance was that by William Keohavong who performed Ben. Ben is the story of the ugly duckling that is shunned by everyone and finally turns into a beautiful swan. This routine was performed to a narration by Tanya Brown.

Most Outstanding Choreography - Isabelle Leonard for the group Silk
Best New Talent - Brendon Atoui for Unknown Fear
Audience Choice Award - Brett and Maria for I'm not yours
Individual prizes to Lucy Riechelmann for You'll Never forget and Naomi Lum for Rust and Clank



Sponsors included Ausdance NSW, Sydney Dance Company, Dance Australia. Winners received cash prizes from Ars Musica, gifts from Bloch, filming sessions from Dance Makers Collective and Cheese on Toast Productions.



The judging panel included Marko Panzic of So you think you can dance fame, Annette McLernon, Director of FORM Dance projects, Independent artists Martin Del Amo, Kiri Morcombe, Gina Marie Shrubsall from Ausdance and Robert Love, the director or Riverside.
