Fashion Revolution Day will take place on 24 April 2016. In this global event, people in over 70 countries worldwide will partake in a challenge the fashion industry to demonstrate their commitments to transparency in their value chains.
Fashion Revolution aims to raise awareness of true cost of fashion, and celebrate those involved in the supply chain of fashion industry: farmers, factory workers, buyers, and consumers.
The current fashion industry is the second largest most polluting sector after oil and agriculture sector. There are 8,000 different synthetic chemicals in process of processing raw materials into textiles. The textile dyeing process pollute rivers in many third-world countries. It is a labor intensive industry with concentration in those poorer countries. The estimated world output of fashion is 80 billions annually.
It will screen The True Cost Movie (PG) - a groundbreaking documentary film that drives us to consider who really pays the prices for these clothes?
Fashion Revolution Singapore invites everyone to share your pledge your commitment to sustainable fashion. To support this cause, it invites you to take photo of yourself wearing your clothes #insideout ask#whomademyclothes and hashtag #fash_revsg on Instagram.
