When I first met the lovely ladies from
NoRuYeLo in July this year , it was no secret that they were truly passionate about what they do, in the name of slow, sustainable fashion.
While the concept may be recent knowledge for myself, it is one that is important for people to be aware of. The current trend at the moment is to practise fast fashion, where clothing and accessories that are not only cheaply made and sold, but also come with a longevity ranging from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, the amount of landfill produced by this trend is staggering. That's what Snezana Swarbrick and Sanya Zunic are hoping to reverse with their brilliant business model via NoRuYeLo.
Creating a form of a
circular economy and steering away from the linear economy that we currently live in, Swarbrick and Zunic invite their customers to bring in any donations of scrap fabric, items of clothing, accessories, and anything else that can be repurposed and given a new sense of life. Their presentation around the importance of minimizing waste can easily be translated into the finished products that are available for purchase at their studio on Gresham Street.
By creating garments that are not only made from recycled materials, but also offer a range of versatility, multi-use, and true substance through their popular products such as the infinity scarf and the multi-face jacket, supporting NoRuYeLo will not only help you help the environment, but also appreciate the many different ways in which you can be fashionable
AND ethical
AND individualistic in your style!
Taking their passion for slow and ethical fashion, the duo at NoRuYeLo will be
traveling to Port Douglas and Western Australia in November, as part of
Eco Fashion Week Australia . Tickets are now on sale, so if you're interested, buy them
here .
