National Sustainability Festival

Kirsty Bishop-Fox from Sustainability Pathways will be at the Queen Victoria Market , Cnr Queen & Victoria Streets, Melbourne on Friday 23 February 2024 from 10am to 3pm at D Shed to share valuable insights and suggestions on how we can minimise food waste. Armed with strategies and techniques to optimise your food resources, you'll get the opportunity to explore straightforward and adaptable recipes that enhance the utilisation of fresh market produce in your meals. Kirsty will also demonstrate the creation of beeswax wraps to promote kitchen waste reduction, demonstrate proper storage methods, and talk about ways to extend the freshness of your produce. There's a huge saving factor in adopting ways that not only help save the planet but save dollars as well. Think about questions you might have about home waste reduction as you'll get the opportunity to ask Kirsty. A sustainability educator and changemaker, Kirsty inspires people to live today like tomorrow matters.

Fashion Edit

On the very next day - Saturday 24 February from 9am-3pm at C&D Sheds, (Peel Street end) - the sheds will be transformed into a fashion haven for The Fashion Edit Makers Market. In collaboration with [LINK PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, this is where creativity, fashion and cutting-edge design collide and ends in a celebration of style and individuality. The 'runway' will inspire, and you can shop the look or create your own style from head to toe, wandering stalls brimming with fashion must-haves amidst good music, delicious food and drinks. The stall holder lineup will impress and feature local and independent labels as listed below.

  • The Only Label - jumpsuits, pants, dresses and jackets in bold colours and fun prints.
  • Mama Movement - sustainable, colourful activewear & raincoats made from recycled plastic bottles.
  • Days of Grace - an ethically conscious and socially responsible label showcasing feminine silhouettes in small runs that exude freedom and elegance.
  • Loungewear Republic - cosy, matching loungewear sets in bright colours and neutrals, offering comfort and style for home relaxation.
  • Von Myrce - historically-inspired apparel handmade in Melbourne using recycled and sustainable textiles – think contemporary fashion meets swashbuckling medieval troubadour.
  • Sachi Craft - a wide range of fashion items up-cycled from vintage Japanese kimono and yukata garments.
  • Ms Whimsy - a collection of unique and practical handbags in vibrant colours and prints, all handcrafted in Melbourne.

  • Turkish Pazar Festival

    March kicks off with a multicultural event on the weekend of 2-3 March from 9am-4pm at C-D Sheds. Come along and experience the charm of a traditional Turkish street bazaar at the Market. 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkiye, so join in the celebrations with a delightful array of street food, ranging from gozleme to doner kebab, with which we are well acquainted; complemented by Turkish mocktails and coffee. Explore cultural tents showcasing arts and handcrafts including captivating demonstrations of ebru (paper marbling) and calligraphy while enjoying the day-long stage program featuring entertainment like the lively Australian Ottoman Mehter Band on Sunday.

    Easter Family Fun

    A little heads-up about the upcoming Easter event at C&D Sheds, as bookings are essential , and they hop out the door quick smart. It's a morning/afternoon tea event with the Easter Bunny on Sunday 31 Mar with session times at 10am and 1pm. The little ones can enjoy a live Easter Show with Trixie the Easter Pixie and The Easter Bunny, as well as a placement setting and bunny ears for each child. The Easter Bunny will actually make an appearance on both days of the weekend from 10am-2pm as he roves around the market so you can snap a pic with the Easter Bunny and collect a few eggs.
