Once upon a time, there was a lady. This lady had a dream. This dream was to get as many craftspeople under one roof as possible, to showcase their crafts and creations, to mingle, to network and to have lots of fun.
So this lady set to work and on Sunday 10 June, Alma Road Community House (200 Alma Road, St Kilda) will open its doors for her dream to come true. Fashion Bazar will take place from 10 am onwards. Visitors will be entertained with fabric galore of eco printing, silk scarves and felting creations and jewellery and nail art.
Organisers and participants come from far and wide: from many European countries originally and from all over Australia now. So it happened that all of the participants/vendors are ladies. However, men will have their part to play as well, just you watch.
The stories behind creations are an exquisite patchwork of dreams, life experiences, choices and surprises. There will be professional fashion designers and dress-makers, prize-winning tanners and leather designers. And there will be those who chose a hobby and breathed talent, time, dedication and planning to make it into a business.
Bazar organisers cater for all tastes and ages. There will be a playground for kids and lounge for time out. There will be yummy food and tea and coffee. And, of course, there will be music, ethnic costumes presentations and lots of laughs to warm up a winter's day.
Please find your way down Alma Road on 10 June. It will be worth it. Entry is free, but do not forget to bring cash and plastic for many exciting and exquisite purchases.
