This is a flower farm experience like no other. For the first time, Acre of Roses is opening its gates to lovers of flowers, horticulture and good old-fashioned Sunday afternoons in the country.

Acre of Roses has a newly opened working micro-flower farm of more than 1500 heritage rose bushes, a luxury wellness accommodation option and an event venue nestled in the regional village of Trentham, just an hour from Melbourne.

The beautiful venue has already been featured in multiple publications including Country Style and Green Magazine.

You can escape to the countryside on Sundays to experience all that this lovely venue has to offer. Take home bee-friendly flower pickings, enjoy local gourmet refreshments and learn about sustainable horticulture.

On Sundays in January and February of 2019 from 2pm to 5pm (excluding 20 January), soak up the heady smell as you wander through more than 1500 organically and sustainably grown heritage rose bushes. Take the opportunity to pick-your-own, or choose from the curated selection at the Rose Bar and take in an educational session centred around one aspect of sustainable horticulture, so that you can go home with newly gained insights into this way of life:

About each session:

6th Jan & 3rd Feb: Beekeeping exploration

13th Jan & 10th Feb: Floral therapy & mindfulness session

17th Feb: Closed loop farming & composting skillshare

27th Jan & 24th Feb: Edible flower experience

Numbers are capped at 20 each Sunday to ensure you can wander the grounds, soak up the peace and engage in discussions with Sandy and Rob - the proud and passionate owners of Acre of Roses - and their weekly visiting expert.

Your $35 entry pass gives you:

Entry into Acre of Roses between 2pm and 5pm
A pass to pick your own flowers
Complimentary local gourmet refreshments from renowned chef Jochem Follink of The Heartier, Graduate of Le Cordon Bleu London Culinary Institute and an advocate of local seasonally grown produce
Access to the day's curated education session
A gorgeous Acre of Roses market bag to take home

There is no shortage of things to do in Trentham if you wish to make a weekend of it.

Accommodation is available at Acres of Roses. This is a restorative sanctuary for a country escape, a place for a romantic getaway, or a girls' retreat - all centred around indulging each of your senses.

I also have a favourite Airbnb whenever I visit Trentham. My review is here. This is an unusual two-bedroomed A-frame. It is modestly priced Airbnb with a gorgeous owner and is walkable from the charming township. For more information, click here.

Try the unique Radio Springs Hotel for an interestingly themed and musical place to stay.

Trentham is full of fascinating stores, including the famous Red Beard Bakery , which also run sourdough breadmaking classes.

Hike the Domino Trail through the Wombat State Forest (bordering onto Acre of Roses). Visit the famous Trentham Falls.

Stop in for fabulous coffee, breakfast all day and Lynda Gardener's homeware shop at Trentham General.

Experience a wonderful French farmhouse-style kitchen created by chef Annie Smithers at Du Fermier.
