Three thinly sliced pieces of toasted bread make up the no ordinary soldiers. They almost look like elongated bruchetta, and they're a popular choice on the Farmers Daughter breakfast menu.

The first soldier is a mix of salmon and creme fraiche, a classic combination that goes together so well. There's a generous serving of smoked salmon, so it's not overpowered by the cream.

The second soldier is a simple one, parmesan and rocket. Even those who don't particularly enjoy rocket are a fan of this one.

Finally the third, prosciutto and romanesco, out of all of them this one is the least successful. There are too many flavours, and it seems a little confused, while the other two thrive off of their simplicity.

At $14.50 it's a mid range breakfast, but it's worth trying for something different.
