Farm tours are ideal for both individuals and families seeking to escape the rat-race. They provide opportunities to enjoy laid-back activities, lovely scenery and tranquil settings.

See below for details of five farm tour locations, each within a 90 minute drive from Brisbane:

1. Naughty Little Kids
1531 Ipswich Boonah Road, Peak Crossing

Naughty Little Kids produces goat milk gelato and cheese using fresh milk from their farm and other local ingredients. Tours of this goat dairy are held every Sunday at 1:05pm, 2:15pm and 3:25pm (no bookings required).

Visitors can pat and feed the kids, milk a goat by hand, watch a cheese making demonstration and of course, taste some of the gelato and cheese. All products are available for purchase at the farm.

2. Scenic Rim Robotic Dairy
9023 Mt Lindesay Highway, Tamrookum

This working dairy farm is responsible for producing the Scenic Rim 4Real Milk products. Tours of 60-90 minutes duration are available throughout the week and on the weekends by appointment.

Visitors learn about the development of dairy farming and are led through the different stages of the current milking process. Of particular interest is the high tech LELY Robotic milking system.

3. White Ridge Farm
130 Hamilton Road, Elimbah

White Ridge Farm opens its doors to the public from 9:00am-3:00pm every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors can experience life on a working farm, feed and interact with various animals, take a bumpy bouncy hay ride, play on the playground or relax with a picnic.

Entry: Children (2-5 years) $8, (6-16 years and pensioners) $10, adults $15 or family pass $38. Includes hay ride and cup of animal food.

4. Albert River Wines
869 Mundoolun Connection Road, Tamborine

Visit the winery for a day of relaxation, wine, food and farm fun. Historic colonial farm tours are conducted at 11:00am, Tuesday to Saturday.

See homesteads from the 1800s, meet the farm animals and experience the runnings of a sheep station. Adults and older children can also attempt to crack a stock whip or throw a boomerang.

5. Summer Land Camels
8 Charles Chauvel Drive, Harrisville

Summer Land Camels is Australia's largest commercial camel dairy, with over 550 camels grazing in their pastures. Available for purchase is fresh milk, cheese, gelato, specialist meats and skin care products.

Guests can feed and ride the camels, visit the onsite cafe or participate in a farm tour. Tours are held 11:00am during the week and 11:00am and 1:30pm every Sunday.
