Fresh is best at Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge
Stay tuned Thursdays on Facebook & Friday mornings on Radio 5MU (1125AM band) for the weekly specials at Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge (image courtesy of Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge's Facebook page).
The team at Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge have grown from strength to strength with their passion & commitment over the past 15 years of wholesaling & retailing quality produce to commercial & retail customers. Pictured (left to right) are Jamie Dowd (Marketing/Media), Sherilee Jaensch (Quality Control) and Carlo De Michele (Owner/Operator)
Staff pride themselves on being friendly and knowledgeable which truly enhances the market's shopper-friendly atmosphere.
A major plus is the huge car park - I can't imagine anyone ever being stuck for a park. The team of Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge will literally bend over backwards to ensure your experience is a positive one, with good old fashioned customer service available to deliver your shopping to your car (caravans and campervans welcome - it truly is an ample car park with dual access: no fiddly reversing or u-turns here).
Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge delivers to commercial & residential customers in the region, including Mannum, Meningie, Lameroo, Pinnaroo, Tailem Bend, Wellington, Jervois, Murrayville, Keith, Tintinara, Salt Creek, Callington & Kanmantoo. Pictured here is one of their refrigerated delivery vans.
Can't get any fresher & tastier than these locally grown cherry tomatoes!
There is something about a home-grown business that our major supermarkets could never compete with. Customers and producers are the focus and the priority - not the dollars. There's no danger of these principles being compromised at Farm Fresh Market.
Carlo explained he personally selects all fresh produce, either direct from the growers or at the Adelaide Produce Market. I did not see any blemished or poor quality produce here - there's the principle of pride involved, so presentation is simply picture perfect (just take a look at the locally grown cherry tomatoes pictured above). It won't be long now until fresh seasonal SA strawberries and stonefruit hit the shelves and Farm Fresh Market's customers can't get enough!
I couldn't resist chowing into Mt. Pleasant Butcher's Bundaberg Rum & Herbs Woodsmoked Garlic Mettwurst (yummo)!
Browsing the range of fresh and value-added produce, I spotted a few labels I was previously unaware of, like Mt. Pleasant Butcher's mouth-watering range of mettwurst. Right now, I'm sitting here enjoying quite a few slices of the Bundaberg Rum & Herbs Woodsmoked Mettwurst - totally moreish!
Fresh is best as is seen here with these perfect & unblemished specimens of fennel, artichoke & celeriac (to name but a few). Owner/operator, Carlo selects only the freshest produce direct from the source or the produce market. It's nearly time for strawberry season in the Adelaide Hills & Carlo's looking forward to SA grown stone fruit, grapes etc. returning in plentiful supply to his market.
Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge's ethos is to procure produce which is as fresh and as local wherever possible and this is evident when browsing around the fresh produce isles.
Fresh & locally grown herbs from Tailem Bend Herbs.
This place truly is a foodie's paradise - no stone is left unturned, from the ground up, you'll find quality produce at affordable prices.
Locally produced olive oils are of excellent quality & value.
I'm keen to try a cup of coffee produced by Mahalia Coffee whose business is based in Robe. The range is great and from what I read on the packaging, this is another quality SA product which is masterfully created for the benefit of all.
Mahalia Coffee is freshly roasted by master roaster Mahalia Layzell & her team in Robe (in SA's south-east) - I'm putting this on my 'must taste' list!
In the refrigerated section is a wide range of dips, cheeses, mettwursts and more. Great to see Fleurieu Milk Company, Yoghurt Shop and Alexandrina Cheese Company's great range of products in pride of place.
The focus is on fresh & regional, with a wide range of dips & dairy produce, including these gourmet dips from Adelaide Hills Dip Producers & My Devine Foods.
Each product invited a closer look re place of origin and I was pleasantly surprised to discover Newman's range is produced entirely in South Australia, at Langhorne Creek.
Up until my visit to explore the range of SA produce on offer at Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge, I never realised that Newman's Horseradish is Australian & better still, South Australian, a thriving SA icon in Langhorne Creek!
I realise many of these products are already widely available elsewhere, both in major supermarkets and smaller independents but it's so empowering to visit markets and purchase the products without having to go through so many middle-men and to know as a customer, you're making a difference and helping to sustain a community.
A wide range of produce from SA's Fleurieu Peninsula including Alexandrina Cheese Company's Mt Magnificent Gouda can be bought off the shelve
Ever tried chocolate dipped apricots? Make sure you try Aussie Apricots choc-dipped apricots which are proudly produced from 100% Australian fruit at Mypolonga (along the River Murray, near Murray Bridge).
Aussie Apricots product range from Mypolonga is 100% Australian & 100% delicious!
It will take great strength if you're more of a sweet-tooth to progress past the front of the shop, where there is the largest range of Emmaline's Country Kitchen produce I've ever seen in one place! Have you every tried their Chocolate Fudge Brownie biscuits? Truly heavenly.
This has to be one of the largest range of produce from Emmaline's Country Kitchen (another local/SA business, based at Lobethal)
Okay, I know I've overindulged here but felt I couldn't do Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge justice without breaking my review up with the visual splendour of their product range. If you don't manage to make it out to Murray Bridge, I hope in the very least this article's given you some food for thought about the endless supply of quality, signature local produce that abounds.
So, next time you're on the South-Eastern Freeway, try not to bypass Murray Bridge and take time to stop off at Farm Fresh Market - Murray Bridge to stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables, gourmet goodies and more.
There's even a café and fish market adjacent to the store - something for everyone!
