Who doesn't just love the works of Roald Dahl? He is a master of stories for both young and old but particularly for children where he has written hundreds of books and pleased many millions of children throughout his career.

And what is just as good as reading one of his books - or should I say better? Watching one of his books performed live on stage!

This is now possible and you will be able to see that fascinating story of the Fantastic Mr Fox

It will be on from 11th to 20th April 2019 with various session times. It will be held at QPAC, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Corner Grey and Melbourne Street, Brisbane, and you can make your bookings at this link. But be quick as this show is sure to sell out!

No one outfoxes a fox, especially not the horrible and greedy farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean – one fat, one short and one lean.

Dahl's much-loved favourite story leaps off the page (and all over the stage) in a spectacular new production from the team behind the award-winning, sold-out national tours of George's Marvellous Medicine and Revolting Rhymes & Dirty Beasts.

The story is about Mr Fox who needs to save his family and friends. To do this he is willing to go to any length (above or underground) to outwit these mean humans. You can join Mr Fox and his team of furry friends as they "bounce, burrow and bewilder" their way to safety.

Mr Fox lives above the valley a wood, under a huge tree. There is a hole under this tree and in it live Mr and Mrs Fox and their four small foxes.

Boggis is a chicken farmer who kept thousands of chickens and was extremely fat. This was because he ate three whole chickens every day smothered in dumplings.

The story is full of Dahlicious mischief, hilarious pandemonium and humongous belly laughs. Fantastic Mr Fox is just the perfect holiday tale for the whole family.

If you have read the book, or even seen the movie, now is the time to go watch the live play. You will experience this world-premiere stage adaptation from the wacky mind of the world's number one storyteller.

It will be directed by Ross Balbuziente and designed by Josh McIntosh with lighting design by Jason Glenwright, composer and sound design by Guy Webster and video design by Craig Wilkinson.

And the people playing the parts will feature:
  • Johnny Balbuziente
  • Leon Cain
  • Tim Dashwood
  • Nelle Lee
  • Nick Skubij
  • Gemma Willing

  • Some of the reviews so far include:"This vivid stage adaptation pulls out a grab-bag of visual surprises and inventive stage magic that audiences will delight in – captures all the mischief of Dahl's imagination – precisely choreographed mayhem."
    - The Age "All the wonder, whimsy and charm of the original text into a live-action production that truly captures the essence and playful innocence of the story." - Scenestr

    A bit About Roald Dahl
Roald was born in Llandaff, Wales, on September 1916 to Norwegian parents, Harald Dahl and Sofie Magdalene Hesselberg. He was named after Roald Amundsen, the Norwegian who had been the first man to reach the South Pole just four years earlier.

He led a very interesting life and in 1953 Roald Dahl married the American actress, Patricia Neal, with whom he had five children. They were later divorced and he married again.

In 1961 he began writing in earnest and also had great success on television. In the early 1980s, he published The Twits, Revolting Rhymes, The BFG and The Witches and the rest is history as they say and he went on to write so much more.

Roald Dahl died on 23rd November 1990, aged 74 however, he lives on in his many beautiful and amazing novels.
