The amazing adventures continue in Paris
I could not contain my excitement at being able to see the new Fantastic Beasts film, the second in the franchise. I absolutely loved the first one and couldn't wait for the second film! The second film follows the first film, with Newt back in London and Grindelwald under guard in a New York prison.

All seems settled but the action begins pretty much straight away with Grindelwald escaping into the night. What follows is several different storylines merging into one giant adventure. The film follows the gang from last time (Newt, Tina, Queenie, and Jacob) as well as some new characters (Dumbledore, Lestrange, Nagini and Flamel) as they fight against Grindelwald. Although having so many characters to focus on means that there isn't the depth and character development of the first film. Others have also complained that it makes the film a little muddled!

However, the film is still an excellent watch and I liked all of the beasts in the film as they were portrayed so beautifully. I also really enjoyed all of the references to things in the Harry Potter films, particularly the scenes of Hogwarts school. This makes the Fantastic Beasts franchise connections to the earlier Harry Potter films much more obvious now. The two series also connect on an artist level as the cinematography was dark and intense just like the later Harry Potter films.

All in all, I very much enjoyed the film, despite the criticism it has had, and just like before, I excitedly await the third installment!
