The Fantasea Harbour Hike is an annual 12 km walking event that takes place along one of the most picturesque, but least known walks in Sydney. It is one of Sydney's favourite community events, bringing together friends and family to get out and enjoy the fresh sea air, while exploring and learning about Sydney Harbour. This year it will be held on Sunday 30th August 2015.
Participants will commence the hike under Sydney Harbour Bridge in Bradfield Plaza, Milsons Point from 8.00am, click here for details on the course and different start time options. The 12 km course is an easy to moderate walk taking around 2.5 to 3.5 hrs weaving along the spectacular Harbour foreshore to Chowder Bay. Hike past beautiful tree lined streets, historic federation homes, exploring hidden coves and beaches and waterside walkways. Learn the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of Sydney Harbour, with SIMS scientists dotted along the course to educate you.
The finish line is located at SIMS Research Facility at Chowder Bay, where hikers will be treated to a host of activities with SIMS interactive displays, kids activities, food stalls and an exclusive glimpse inside the brand new SIMS Discovery Centre from 10.00am – 3.00pm.
The SIMS centre will be running their open day which is also free and open to the public from 10am - 3pm. So even if you can't attend the hike you can go to the Open Day and enjoy the festivities.
