Recently opened next door to the Gouger Street branch of Chemist Warehouse, offers not just dumplings but a wide range of Asian dishes, many of which are drawn from Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine. It was quite popular, with a decent-sized crowd when we visited for dinner.

Compared to other restaurants that also offer the dish, the pork mince in the Spicy Mapo Tofu with Pork Mince on Rice was in relatively large chunks, giving the dish a firmer texture. The chunks of tofu had a lovely soft texture and the sauce imparted a delectable tongue-tingling sensation. The degree of spiciness is suitable for most tastes.

We liked that the pieces of pork belly in the Braised Pork Belly with Soy Sauce on Rice was tender enough to be cut with a spoon and were not too fatty. The soy sauce was what gave the dish its savoury flavour and a change of texture was provided by the potatoes. Some freshness was provided by slices of cucumber.

Available to be ordered with rice or noodles, the E-shan Shredded Pork dish had pork that was cooked just right, with shreds of bamboo shoots providing a bit of crunch. The sauce had a good amount of spice with a background sweet flavour. Slices of capsicum complemented the other ingredients well. For diners that choose to have it with noodles, it is best enjoyed by mixing everything thoroughly before eating to spread the sauce's flavour throughout the ingredients.

The slices of pork in the Twice-cooked Pork Slices on Rice were not too tough and the cabbage it was cooked with was fried sufficiently to give it a nice charred flavour. A bit of sweetness was provided by the slices of capsicum. The spiciness of the dish should be suitable for most tastes.

Their Fried Pork Dumplings had a lovely juicy filling which was set off nicely by skin that was fried to give it a bit of crispness. Eating the dumplings slowly is advised as the filling is steaming hot when it is served to you. While tasty enough as-is, sauces are available for those that desire to add more flavour.

While we thought the chicken in the Steamed Chicken in Chilli & Peanut Sauce was a bit dry, the quantity was enough to make eating the dish a satisfying experience. The sauce had a lovely degree of heat and the peanut imparted a delightful nutty taste to it.

The filling of the Chinese Pork Burger tasted similar to their Braised Pork Belly with Soy Sauce but cut up into smaller pieces to make eating it less messy. Capsicum was included in the filling to provide a change of texture from the pork. The bun the filling was contained in was not too tough though we thought it was a bit dry.

While the restaurant received quite a few takeaway orders, the decor of the restaurant had a casual feel for those that choose to dine-in. Its location makes it convenient for visitors to Chinatown to visit for a quick and delicious Asian food.
