Outside again at last
It's been tough getting out into nature in the last few years. We have forgotten what it is like to simply reconnect with nature and ignore the calls of the modern world. It's time to get your hands dirty again. At the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre, you and your family are able to enjoy a Family Day Out.
Herdsman Lake is the largest lake in the Perth inner metropolitan area, and many types of wildlife call it their home. As spring is just around the corner, the Black Swans and ducks will have little babies following them around by the time this event comes. Children and adults alike will really enjoy seeing the new life of cygnets and ducklings swimming around on the lake. During the day, there are guided nature walks on the boardwalk around the lake. You will get the chance to see these little babies up close.
For children, there will also be a number of arts and crafts activities for the kids to participate in. There will also be a number of scientific activities for them too. Kids will love the hands on approach, and will learn about the world around them at the same time.
This event doesn't run for very long, it's only on between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday October 3rd. It also isn't free to go. Tickets are $10 or $30 for families. Alternatively, you could register for Friends of the WA Gould League, and get in for free. Membership costs, but it does give you the chance to get free tickets to a lot of the events that the company run throughout the season. Spending the day outside with family. Who could ask for more?
