A mere 3 hours drive from Sydney along the F3 motorway is all it takes to get this sandy wonderland called Birubi Point down James Patterson street on Anna Bay, next to Nelsons Bay.
This place is full of wonderful surprises for all ages and activity levels. The list of fun things to do for families just goes on. We spent the whole day exploring the beautiful beach and getting to know the Oakfield Ranch camels better, and they also offer pony rides. This is our camel Diane, who was the cuddliest and friendliest camel we had seen.
Camel rides with cuddly camels
There are a few operators just next to the camel and pony rides offering 4 wheel driving tours or a coach to take families sand boarding, which is great fun for all ages and a good option to roll in the soft white sand. The coach ride lasts about 10 minutes through the beautiful and ever changing sand dunes.
Another popular option was making sand castles and sculptures in the pristine white sand. The tour operators were friendly, cheerful and understanding with families. Also, an orientation about using sand boards is provided for everyone's benefit. There are coaches that run to and fro from the main beach every ten minutes until sunset.
There is plenty of parking available with clean public toilets, a convenience store and, the Crest restaurant to stop by for a bite. We found the restaurant rather busy and hopped into the car for a run across to the next street where the Anna Bay shops are located with options for nibbles and drinks.
Birubi Point is a great option for families or friends, whether going down just for the day or, to spend the weekend.
